United Arab Emirates invests $750m in UN clean energy

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has allocated more than $750 million (£572.6m) to United Nations (UN) programmes to help develop alternative energy sources.

The money will aid in the research and development of renewable technologies and reduce the costs of production.

The country hopes to source half of its energy needs from alternative energy by the year 2050, a plan that will include nuclear generation.

Dubai is also building what it claims is the biggest concentrated solar power plant in the world.

The UAE plans to assist other nations in the development of projects that can utilise alternative energy generation, including advanced economies like Spain, Australia and the UK.
