LowCVP to help facilitate UK’s Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce

LowCVP to help facilitate UK’s Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) will help facilitate the government's Electric Vehicle (EV) Energy Taskforce.

The taskforce, initially announced as a part of the 'Road to Zero' strategy in July, aims to bring together the energy and automotive industries to harness the opportunities and work through the challenges surrounding the anticipated growth in the use of electric and plug-in vehicles over the coming years.

This includes the use of EVs to help level off electricity demand and balance an increasing amount of distributed renewable sources coming onto the grid.

The taskforce, for which the LowCVP will provide secretariat functions, aims to ensure costs and emissions remain as low as possible during the low carbon transition.

It will be discussed in more detail at the Zero Emission Vehicle Summit taking place in Birmingham today.

Jesse Norman MP, EV Minister, said: “The UK is a world leader in the low emission and electric vehicle industries and initiatives like the EV Energy Taskforce keep us at the forefront of this technology revolution.

“Bringing together government, automotive and energy sectors will help to ensure that EVs become an integrated part of the UK energy system and infrastructure upgrades can be planned in an efficient and sustainable way.”
