Siemens Gamesa wins 250MW turbine order in South Africa

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has won an order to supply two wind farms with turbines in South Africa.

It will provide a total of 109 turbines for the 140MW Kangas and 110MW Perdekraal East wind farms – which will together supply enough electricity to 214,000 homes.

It will start the supply of turbines to Irish developer Mainstream Renewable Power in early 2019 - the wind farms are scheduled for completion in 2020.

The projects were granted contracts in the government's electricity capacity auction.
