German investment firm buys onshore wind farm in Finland

Investment company Aquila Capital has bought a 14.4MW onshore wind park in Finland.

The renewable energy facility, situated close to the town of Kokkola, has four turbines with a capacity of 3.6MW each and marks the German firm's first wind energy investment in the country.

The plant was completed in March 2018 and is already connected to the Finnish electricity grid - the project benefits from a 12-year feed-in tariff.

The transaction follows Aquila Capital's acquisition of three wind energy projects in Sweden with a total capacity of more than 580MW.

Roman Rosslenbroich, Co-Founder and CEO of Aquila Capital, said: "The move in to the Finnish wind energy market is a logical step for us and an important element in our expansion strategy in the field of renewable energies – particularly in northern Europe.

"Thanks to its natural features and stable political framework, the region is key to the success of the Europe-wide energy transition."
