The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced financing of around $40 million (£29m) for Indonesia’s first utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) plants.
They will consist of 21MW and three 7MW solar power plants in North Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara provinces.
The loan is part of a $160 million (£119m) investment, of which $120.8 million (£90m) has already been provided for a wind energy project.
The solar and wind plants, built by Vena Energy - formerly known as Equis Energy - together will supply energy to Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Indonesia's national power utility.
The investment will support Indonesia's commitment to increase the use of renewable energy to 23% by 2025.
