Landsec brings digital edge to its energy estate with Utilidex’s innovative Hub platform.
Utilidex has been working in partnership with Mitie, to provide property giant Landsec with a unique utility bill validation solution that is unlocking efficiency across its property estate.
Landsec is the UK’s largest listed property company, with a £14.2 billion property portfolio, spanning more than 23 million square feet of workspace across the UK. It owns and manages some of the most successful and recognisable assets in the country – from the iconic Piccadilly Lights and Bluewater shopping centre, to innovative developments like Nova and The Zig Zag Building, SW1.
Two providers. One game-changing solution.
As part of a drive towards a smarter, more efficient way of managing energy for its property estate, Landsec was looking for a solution that would enable an exciting new approach to bill validation.
This is how the unique partnership between Utilidex and Mitie came about. Utilidex provides its innovative technology platform, which Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management specialist, complements with its energy charging and markets expertise, bill validation process and supplier management. Together, the two companies have worked in partnership, creating a bespoke solution for Landsec which provides full transparency for its bill validation process.
“Previously, we performed all our invoice validation inhouse – the process was complex, time consuming and manually intensive. We were looking for the technology that would enable us to fully automate our complex bill validation process, while at the same time reduce costs. Utilidex and Mitie were able to provide the full package – a unique solution which wasn’t achievable via other off-the-shelf products”
Ben Brown, Energy Bureau Manager, Landsec.
It’s all about efficiency
With fully automated digital bill validation, the Utilidex Hub will enable Landsec to reduce its entire billing process to just 30 minutes for all electricity and gas invoices. At the same time, it will bring their complex energy data onto one platform and provide dynamic, real-time visibility of energy usage and consumption. All this is achieved via a simple, intuitive user interface, that integrates directly into Landsec’s existing systems and enables it to connect with all its energy partners on one easy platform.
“Our partnership with Utilidex opens up a whole new approach to bill validation. Combining Mitie’s unrivalled knowledge and expertise in the energy sector with the technology capability of Utilidex has enabled an innovative solution for Landsec, improving the efficiency, visibility and management of its energy bill validation”,

And a 360° view of Landsec’s energy world
At the heart of this new approach to energy is the customer. Landsec can log in to the Hub 24/7 and get full visibility of the entire energy billing process. That’s the beauty of the Hub approach, having all the energy data in one place and sharing information.
“We’re delighted to be working with an innovative company like Landsec. It is leading the way in energy management with an exciting new methodology that’s all about efficiency. And our intuitive digital platform provides them with the technology to do this in an automated way. With access to powerful tools, the Utilidex Hub will provide Landsec with full visibility of its energy data, putting them in complete control of their energy costs”
Richard Lewin, Commercial Director, Utilidex.
“We’re really excited about continuing our digital journey with Utilidex. One of the benefits of working with the team at Utilidex has been their customer-centric approach – the team have worked closely with us to build a product that really works for us and we look forward to exploring the full potential of the Hub and unlocking more energy value along the way”
