Job Title: Regulatory Policy Analyst

Location: Leatherhead

Salary: £33,000 - £40,000

Summary:

A Utilities company are looking for a Regulatory Policy Analyst to join a small team of 2-3 people and as part of a wider cross-functional team. As a licenced monopoly, this company are required to operate in accordance with a number of licences, industry codes and statutory legislation. We’re looking for a dynamic, switched on person to join the team responsible for ensuring that they successfully navigate their way through this period of transformation in the energy industry. The regulations team is responsible for the management of a wide array of changes, risks and issues relating to contracts, charging methodologies/models, operational issues, IT systems and business processes. This role will provide exposure to a variety of different skills and subject matter, with the opportunity to specialise in certain areas. Key responsibilities:

  • To support in managing policy and regulatory changes and to ensure compliance across the business in accordance with a regulatory framework and licence to operate from OFGEM is retained.
  • Policy/regulatory change. Represent the company by responding to consultations and participating in industry working groups, while helping to develop changes to energy industry systems and processes that positively impact consumers.
  • Regulatory reporting. Manage standard regulatory reporting to the regulator and industry code bodies.
  • Regulatory framework. Administer and maintain the Regulatory Compliance Framework and the associated management tools, ensuring robust management of compliance and regulatory change.
  • Internal auditing. Lead internal audits to ensure it meets the relevant regulatory requirements, suggesting improvements to systems, process and agreements.
  • Project work. Lead and/or participate in cross functional internal projects, where regulatory support is required, ensuring efficient delivery of each project’s objectives.
  • Escalated queries. Oversee and manage any escalated operational queries, ensuring such queries are resolved within any regulatory timescales.
  • Regulatory support. Provide ad hoc regulatory support to different departments, as required.

Skills and experience required:

  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in the energy industry, including experience of: Analysis and implementation of change; Written and verbal communication of complex ideas.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.
  • Degree educated with strong academic background.
  • Strongly analytical, with well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to challenge the status quo and lobby for positive change.
