UK firm offers energy saving advice in Peru

A Scottish energy consultancy has shared its energy efficiency expertise in Peru to help businesses slash their energy usage.

Inverness-based esave held seminars with more than 70 local businesses from around Lima to help them save money and reduce emissions.

The firm says the nation has faced numerous effects of global warming, including melting of around 40% of its glaciers and intensification of natural disasters.

esave believes its lectures and sessions, heldĀ on behalf of the British Embassy, could help organisations reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions by 20% or more.

Agnes Annells, Head of Economic Diplomacy at the UK Embassy in Lima said: "Reducing carbon emissions in line with Paris Agreement commitments is a key economic development challenge in Peru.

"The level of interest in the seminars was remarkable and we believe that the project offered valuable knowledge to Peruvian companies on carbon reduction techniques, giving them a real foundation of knowledge to take back to their organisations and take action."
