Dutch floating solar farm gets go-ahead

A floating solar farm project has been given the green light in the Netherlands.

The Lingewaard solar farm will consist of 6,150 panels, expected to generate enough electricity to power 600 households.

It will be installed on the irrigation water reservoir near Bemmel, which is used to supply water to the gardeners in the area.

Dutch bank ING is supporting the community project with nearly €1.7 million (£1.5m) of financing.

A floating solar array has also been installed at the Queen Elizabeth II reservoir in Greater London.
