UKPN customers ‘pay 14% less than average’

UK Power Networks' (UKPN) customers pay 14% less than the average annual cost for electricity distribution services.

That's the claim from the organisation's latest annual report, which says it offers excellent value for money and reliability for 8.2 million homes and businesses across London, the South East and the East of England.

It suggests its customers pay 22p per day for a reliable electricity supply and experience power interruptions only once every two and a half years.

UKPN says this is an improvement of 40% in power cut performance since 2010 and claims the duration of the power cuts that do occur have halved since this time.

These improvements in the network have resulted in a satisfaction rating of 86%, according to Ofgem.

Basil Scarsella, Chief Executive of UKPN, said: “This is an exciting time to be in electricity. The ways that electricity is generated, distributed and consumed is transforming in front of our eyes.

"We are the heart of this transformation and leading the change of the future energy landscape."
