A new wood fuel partnership is expected to boost the UK's biomass supply chain.
Chip-and-pellet distributors Forest Fuels and Billington Bioenergy will continue to operate independently but combine their customer service and distribution expertise and resources.
The combined businesses, which will supply their products to more than 4,000 customers, say they have an "excellent geographical fit" - the locations of their depots mean delivery vehicles will now have fewer miles to travel to reach customers.
The businesses claim this will allow them to offer improved economies of scale.
As well as supplying 130,000 tonnes per year of wood pellets, Forest Fuels also supplies around 70,000 tonnes of woodchip. Billington Bioenergy annually supplies roughly 40,000 tonnes of wood pellets.
Peter Solly, Managing Director of Forest Fuels, said: "Customers from both companies will now have access to an even more comprehensive and efficient wood fuel supply chain.
"We’ll have more local depots, additional numbers of specialised delivery vehicles and an increased number of specialists on hand to deal with enquiries."
