E.ON has invested in an Internet of Things (IoT) provider to help develop decentralised energy systems for the home.
The Big Six provider's partnership with German smart technologies provider Cuculus aims to create the equipment necessary for the intelligent house of the future, in which all systems will be connected with each other.
Making disruptive technologies such as solar systems, battery storage, electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations fully automated and linked-up means the house can be run in the most optimised, energy efficient way possible.
Smart metering and IoT equipment form the backbone of this network - the partnership aims to expand and improve Cuculus' existing ZONOS smart system solution, which E.ON says is secure, scalable and flexible.
