UK supports restoration of power after Hurricane Irma

The UK has helped with the restoration of electricity on the British Virgin Islands.

It is part of the ongoing recovery operation following Hurricane Irma.

The storm and flooding cut electricity throughout the islands, knocking out vital communications infrastructure.

British military troops along with logisticians from the Department for International Development (DFID) helped restore power to the main power station.

Yesterday, a flight carrying aid reached Turks and Caicos Islands, delivering more than 150 shelter kits and 720 litres of water.
