Renewed injunction blocks anti-fracking activists

The High Court has renewed injunctions stopping activists from disrupting INEOS Shale’s staff, sites and supply chain.

The rules continue to prohibit unlawful acts by protestors including trespass, harassment and obstruction of business.

The outlawed activities include popular actions among environmental activists such as slow walks and lock-ons.

Shale activists challenged the injunctions but the Judge renewed them - they will remain in place until a further hearing later in the year.

Tom Pickering, Operations Director of INEOS Shale said, "It is our duty to do all we can to ensure the safety of everyone on and around our sites including the protestors themselves.

"We are also clear that our people and suppliers have the right to come to work free from harassment and intimidation."

Joe Corré, Vivienne Westwood's son and an environmental campaigner is challenging the legality of the injunction, calling it "draconian, anti-democratic and oppressive".
