High level officials from 26 national and subnational governments have pledged to strengthen action on climate change through renewed co-operation on carbon markets.
That includes EU Member States, Mexico, Republic of Korea, California and Tokyo.
A three-day meeting in Lisbon last week, organised by the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP), brought together key policymakers to share best practice on carbon trading.
Jean-Yves Benoit, ICAP Co-Chair and Director of carbon markets in Québec said: “These governments have renewed their commitment on the world stage, agreeing to take practical steps towards implementing best practice policy and to work together further towards a common low carbon future.”
Last month, the Swiss Federal Council approved a deal to link its carbon market with the EU.
