When is a waste not a waste?

When is a waste not a waste?

Handling, transporting and treating waste materials can be a complex and expensive business.

Combusting or treating such materials in any sort of thermal process gives you an even bigger headache, with a multitude of environmental, legislative, planning and licensing issues to overcome.

That is, of course, unless you’re a company called Refgas www.refgas-uk.com .

Based in North Wales, Refgas supplies industrial and commercial clients with a modular CHP solution, providing localised or on-site heat and power, fuelled by waste?

Well, not exactly…..

Refgas’ patented process takes a variety of waste materials as feedstock, converting them into a “product gas” which is cleaner than natural gas. It is this ultra-clean “Syngas”, no longer classed as a waste, which is then used to fuel standard engine generator sets and generate a combination of heat and power.

Waste wood from construction and demolition, pellets processed from municipal solid waste and other solid combustible materials from industry can all be considered as options to feed the Refgas system.

Should you need lots of heat and power but don’t have enough feedstock from your own activities to justify such a system, don’t worry. Refgas is linked to a network of feedstock processors and suppliers who can help with fuel supply contracts.

In fact, they will assist all the way through the project, from initial feasibility studies through to commissioning, testing and O&M.
