Competitive power provider builds on solar energy and billing in Chile

A new billing system has been deployed by Amigo Solar in Chile to support its digitised back office and help build its business.

The company, a competitive provider of electricity in the country, is using the system from LogNet Billing.

Amigo Solar deploys intelligent microgrids to harvest, store and supply solar energy, combined with electricity derived from traditional sources. Its microgrids are supported by behind-the-meter distributed energy resources (DER), including peak-demand storage systems, rooftop photovoltaic systems, smart meters and data loggers.

Amigo Solar’s customers include residential and office buildings, business parks, industrial facilities, shopping centres and other similar types of properties.

The company said its business model is based on supplying renewable electricity up to 10kW to small customers and up to 100kW for medium-sized consumers at rates that are lower than the regulated rates offered by the incumbent regulated electricity suppliers.

It uses LogNet Billing’s MaxBill system, which processes all of the company’s customer management and billing activities, including advanced reconciliation and multi-layered pricing schemes.

Yuri Sylvester, Chief Business Development Officer at Amigo Solar said: “We are fortunate that our competitors are large incumbent companies who use legacy and outdated IT systems that make it difficult for them compete in the digital revolution.”

He explained the company deployed MaxBill as part of a strategic decision to differentiate Amigo Solar’s service and become 100% customer-centric in order disrupt a market that has historically been deprived of any form of competition.

Mr Sylvester added: “With MaxBill, our back office today is more robust, flexible and scalable than any of our competitors.”

Kirill Rechter, CEO of LogNet Billing said: “Amigo Solar shows how an efficient and open billing platform can be immediately leveraged and serve as the base for building a profitable business and benefiting customers with a better service and lower costs.”
