A UK pet retailer has slashed energy use by a third by installing energy efficient lighting systems.
Pets at Home spent £8 million implementing the LED project last year across its 437 stores.
The investment represents the largest capital expenditure project ever undertaken by the firm, with a payback of under two and a half years.
The company is now exploring the potential to install more onsite solutions such as solar technology and battery storage.
The firm expects all its lighting to be LED-based by June.
Philips Lighting is to roll out energy efficient LED streetlights in the Netherlands that have been designed to be friendly to migrating birds.
