Gas system short – DMR

The UK gas system is 23mcm short, according to npower’s daily market report.

Nominations from Aldborough and the Hornsea storage sites have decreased as well as flows via St Fergus terminal.

Brent oil is trading at $47.30/bbl (£35.9/bbl).

Rodney Johnson from the Optimisation Desk said: "US Energy Department figures showed a draw on Crude stocks for the third successive week."

Demand is slightly lower than yesterday with the peak expected below 39GW.

Wind generation is expected to reach 2GW and solar 5.3GW.

Mr Johnson added: “Continued low nuclear French availability and record high French gas prices mean there are swings expected in flows over the French interconnector, though current maximum flow into UK is at 1GW.”

The Dutch interconnector is flowing back to 1GW as maintenance works have ended.
