Gas system softer – DMR

The UK gas system has opened softer than yesterday, according to npower’s daily market report.

However, it is expected to close 20mcm long as flows from Bacton Deal and Holford facilities have increased.

On the power system, demand is in line with yesterday and Hartlepool 1 and Hunterston B nuclear plants are set to come back online today.

Wind generation is subdued again and solar is above 3GW.

Planned maintenance works at the Dutch and French interconnectors are continuing.

Brent oil is trading at $45.64/bbl (£35.4/bbl).

Rodney Johnson from the Optimisation Desk said: "There are little news of progress on talks between OPEC and non OPEC producers to reach an agreement on support price. Venezuela says the market is currently around 10% oversupplied."

The pound is weaker against the euro at around €1.16.
