North America ‘to lead zero energy homes market’

North America ‘to lead zero energy homes market’

North America will lead the Zero Net Energy Homes (ZNEH) market until 2025.

That’s according to a report by Navigant Research which added the ZNEH market is expected to be led by new construction in the region.

California is leading the drive toward ZNEHs worldwide with its goal of 100% of newly constructed residential homes to be zero carbon by the beginning of 2020, it stated.

However, other US states and other countries in select regions, such as Europe and Asia Pacific, are also beginning to follow suit with zero carbon home initiatives and energy efficient building codes.

Both regions are expected grow quickly. ZNEH units in Europe are expected to grow from 185 in 2015 to more than 1,500 in 2025, the report added.
