A combined offshore wind farm and testing facility is to be built in the Scottish waters.
Vattenfall plans to invest £300 million in the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), which will have a capacity of 92.4 MW.
It will also be used to test and develop offshore wind technologies.
Construction will start later this year and the site is expected to start generating electricity in spring 2018.
The decision to invest in EOWDC comes only a few weeks after Brexit and shows Vattenfall’s continuing commitment to wind power in the UK.
Magnus Hall, CEO and President of Vattenfall, said: "This project underscores our long term aim to extend our wind power capacity in Great Britain. The British Government wants wind power to continue making up a significant part of the country’s climate-neutral electricity generation. We aim to be a part of this development and grow in Great Britain.”
Donald Trump previously appealed against the project as it will be situated close to his golf course but was rejected.
