Brewer hops towards sustainable goals

MillerCoors is continuing to reduce water usage and brewery waste ahead of its 2020 sustainability goals.

It has released its 2016 Sustainability Report which reviews the company’s environmental performance and shows whether it's on track to hit 2020 targets.

The brewer, which is the second largest in the US, has managed to reduce water usage within its breweries by more than 128 million gallons in the last year, meaning its water-to-beer ratio has dropped 2.1% since 2014.

The company’s greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 4.9% from 2014 and by 18% since 2010.

Landfill-free operations have been achieved at eight major breweries and two major manufacturing plants.

Kim Marotta, Director of Sustainability said: “Our 2020 goals led us to great sustainability accomplishments in 2015. I am most proud of MillerCoors employees and partners who pioneered recycling efforts at our breweries [and] helped us protect water-stressed watersheds”.
