Gas system well supplied – DMR

The UK gas system is well supplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is forecast to close 21mcm long.

Norwegian flows through the Langeled pipeline have picked up to 65mcm as outages at Troll, Valemon and Kollsnes gas fields have ended.

LNG send-out from the South Hook terminal is at 13mcm.

Sam Hill from the Optimisation Desk said: “There has been an announcement that the Berge Arzew LNG tanker will be docking at the Isle of Grain on the 15th of June.

“Temperature forecasts for the UK now see a dip below seasonal normal levels towards the end of this week and into the weekend before pushing back up to more seasonal temperatures next week. The cooler period has had little effect on demand, which is slightly higher than average, industrial demand is decent but is doing little to soak up any oversupply.”

On the power system the peak margin is above 11GW.

Gas-fired generation is at 19GW, providing 55% of the energy mix and coal is contributing 10% of the stack.

Wind is generating below 1GW.

Mr Hill added: “The French interconnector is importing at full capacity whilst the Dutch is importing under half its range.”

Brent oil is trading at $50.13/bbl (£34/bbl).

Mr Hill added: "An increase in US rig drilling has seen oil extend its losses seen last week. Any indication of increases supply weighs heavily on the bearish sentiment amid the lingering supply glut.”

The pound is currently valued at €1.25.
