A new coalition which aims to help multinational companies deploy 60GW of renewable energy in the US has been launched.
Facebook and Microsoft are among more than 60 firms that have joined the Renewables Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA).
It is a non-governmental organisation which aims to empower businesses to transform its electricity systems with green energy.
REBA will facilitate solutions among customers, renewable energy suppliers, utilities and policymakers to overcome market barriers and drive collaboration among all parties.
It is led by the Business for Social Responsibility, Rocky Mountain Institute, World Resources Institute and World Wildlife Fund.
Brian Janous, Director of Energy Strategy at Microsoft said: “We’re proud to be part of the REBA network and the movement to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. We are committed not only to increasing our purchase of green power but also to working with new partners to bring even more renewable energy onto the grid where we do business."
Earlier this week a new campaign was launched to encourage businesses to double energy productivity by 2030.
