Wind generation falls – DMR

Wind generation falls – DMR

There has been a reduction in wind generation to 2GW.

As a consequence, CCGT production has increased to 20GW, providing more than 50% of the power mix.

The peak margin in the UK’s power system is more than 12GW.

The gas system is undersupplied with the linepack forecast to close 30mcm short.

Sam Hill from the Optimisation Desk said: “Reductions in nominations for Norwegian Langeled and Dutch BBL are contributing to this. Like yesterday there are no withdrawals from storage facilities with matching nominations.

“Rough is continuing it’s essential maintenance due to end on Thursday morning. LNG send-out from South Hook is reasonable around 34mcm, with no scheduled arrivals, there are however some possible tankers on the horizon.”

Oil is currently trading at $43/bbl (£30/bbl).

Mr Hill added: "The gains seen in oil over the last couple of days have paused. US inventory announcements tomorrow are expected to see stockpiles rise ahead of the OPEC meeting in Doha."
