OECD power from wind and solar grew 16% in 2015

Wind and solar electricity generation in OECD countries increased by 16% in 2015.

That's out of a total share of 21.5% generated by renewables, a report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) stated.

Power generation from wind grew 77TWh last year, out of which 61TWh was generated in Europe.

Solar production rose by 27TWh, led by a 10.4TWh rise in the Americas, it added.

‌‌Oil production in the OECD increased by 4.8% in 2015 to 25.2 million barrels per day, driven by US output which rose by 9.2%.

Natural gas production in those countries also picked up by 2.3%, with the US leading the increase to a total of 769 billio cubic metres while production fell 2.3% in Europe and 1.8% in Asia.
