Renault to develop Dutch smart solar charging EV network

Renault to develop Dutch smart solar charging EV network

Renault is to develop a network of smart solar charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) in the Netherlands.

It has signed a letter of intent with Dutch Utrecht City Council and smart technology companies ElaadNL and LomboXnet for the project.

Under the agreement, Renault will supply a fleet of 150 EVs through 2017 to the city, which could be the testing ground for the solar smart-charge initiative.

The two tech firms will be responsible for the rollout of 1,000 solar-powered public charging points.

Phase two of the project would lead to developing a vehicle to grid system.

Earlier this year ELN spoke to car manufacturers and experts about challenges in the UK EV industry.
