Texas shale gas to sail to Europe

Shale gas produced in Texas is to head to Europe.

US firm Cheniere Energy is reportedly liquefying gas at one of its terminals, which will be loaded onto a ship to the continent later this month.

As demand for gas in Europe remains higher, the firm believes exporting shale gas is a good option due to a fall in prices in the US domestic market.

It is converting one of its terminals located in the border with Louisiana into an LNG export site.

In December, it sent the first shipment of US crude oil in more than 40 years to Europe.

Centrica previously signed a gas supply deal with Cheniere Energy starting in 2018.
