LED Christmas lights could save £20 on energy bills

LED Christmas lights could save £20 on energy bills

Brits could save up to £20 on their electricity bills this Christmas if they use LEDs for their trees and decorations.

That’s according to a survey by green energy supplier Good Energy.

It stated one in three people - 32% - don’t use energy efficient lights while 41% admitted to leaving their lights on for more than six hours per day during the festive season.

Apart from switching to LEDs, the company suggests to put lights on a timer and to turn off other lights in the house when fairy lights are in use.

Juliet Davenport, CEO of Good Energy said: “It’s surprising how much electricity Christmas lights use up. Switching to LED lights and being more careful about how long you leave them on for, will save you money and is good for the environment too.”
