The US has announced an investment worth $314 million (£200.9m) for water projects across the country.
A total of 141 projects will improve water and wastewater infrastructures in rural communities.
The cash will enable water systems to help rural communities to prepare or recover from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe drinking water.
It will also be used to build water and wastewater facilities.
USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack said: "Many rural communities need to upgrade and repair their water and wastewater systems but often lack the resources to do so. These loans and grants will help accomplish this goal. USDA's support for infrastructure improvements is an essential part of building strong rural economies."
