New national wind energy college seeks experts

A new National College for Wind Energy is calling on industry experts interested in becoming a skills provider.

Plans to establish the college was announced last year, with the Humber Region chosen as the headquarters.

It aims to help the UK close the skills gap, enabling young people to gain professional qualifications.

The Humber Local Energy Partnership is working with RenewableUK to host the college.

Shadow Board Chair, Maf Smith said: “The proposed National College for Wind Energy will be established on a hub and spoke model with the ‘hub’, i.e. the headquarters, being based in the Humber region. The ‘spokes’ will be skills providers located throughout the UK, with the aim of addressing skills challenges and amalgamating the expertise and facilities of existing providers to provide best value for the investment being made.”

Those interested are asked to provide information, including their location, qualifications relevant to the wind and marine energy sector supply chain and an overview of their specialist facilities by 9th November.
