An onshore wind farm in Yorkshire has awarded £46,000 to 14 local groups and charities.
It is the first round of awards from RWE’s Goole Fields Wind Farm Community Fund.
In total the fund is worth £64,000 a year and is “set to increase significantly” when the Goole Fields II Wind Farm is completed.
Groups including Snaith Juniors Football Club, Rawcliffe Badminton Club and Eadon Place Residents Association were amongst the first beneficiaries.
Katy Woodington, RWE Innogy UK’s Senior Community Investment Officer, said: “It is exciting to see these first round of awards come through and to see the wind farm support so many varied groups within the Goole community.
“During the project's lifetime the fund will be worth more than £1.6 million which we hope will make a significant long term difference to community development in the area.”
The Goole Fields Community Fund is administered independently by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
