Chinese firm to provide turbines to Pakistani wind farm

A Chinese company will provide wind turbines for a 49.5MW project in Pakistan.

China Ming Yang Wind Power Group signed a purchase agreement to deliver 33 turbines in three batches starting from September.

It will also provide five-year warranty services after the installation.

The Chinese state-owned enterprise plans to build the wind farm in the Sindh Province of Pakistan.

It is one of the first initiatives under the "One Belt, One Road" framework, China's development strategy aimed at enhancing connectivity and co-operation among countries primarily in Eurasia.

The wind farm, scheduled to open in June 2016, is expected to help improve the power shortage issues in the region.

Chuanwei Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Ming Yang said: "We are excited to participate in this overseas project under the 'One Belt, One Road' initiative.

“Back in 2014 when President Xi Jinping announced the policy and called for more co-operation between countries in Asia, we realised it would generate great opportunities for our industry, including Ming Yang and we began to strategically target overseas energy projects developed by Chinese companies."
