National Grid’s LNG terminal celebrates 10 years

National Grid’s LNG terminal in the Isle of Grain is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The company claims the Grain Terminal is the largest in the EU and LNG shippers use it to access European markets.

It can supply the equivalent of 20% of UK’s gas demand and deliver 15 million tonnes of gas per year.

It recently began offering ship reloading services.

National Grid also to offer break bulk services, i.e. transporting cargo as separate pieces rather than in containers, through an open season and possible extra capacity through a fourth phase expansion.

It added road tanker loading will be added to the list of services the terminal offers.

Simon Culkin, Terminal Manager said: “We now look to our next decade, meeting the energy challenge ahead and delivering an increasing range of services to our customers.”
