Russia’s Rosneft and Rosatom sign co-operation agreement

Russian energy giant Rosneft has signed a co-operation agreement with state-owned nuclear company Rosatom.

The two companies will work together in areas including exploration of technologies and equipment, offshore operations and support in the Arctic as well as energy efficiency projects.

They will also develop and approve a 'Scientific Technical Co-operation Programme'.

"To carry out the programme, the parties plan to exchange information on current and future needs of Rosneft and its subsidiaries in Rosatom’s and its companies’ products and services, test equipment prototypes of products, employ Rosatom’s best companies’ scientific-technical and manufacturing capacity in the interest of research and development," the companies stated.

Igor Sechin, Rosneft Management Board Chairman added: “Our co-operation with Rosatom has strategic nature and is aimed at import substitution of certain technologies."
