Thumbs up for Canada’s $220m gas pipeline

Plans to build a new $220 million (£138.6m) gas pipeline in Canada have been given the green light.

The National Energy Board (NEB) approved the King's North Connection project, which will link new Enbridge Gas Distribution pipeline facilities with TransCanada's existing gas transmission systems in Vaughan, Ontario.

TransCanada aims to improve its service in Greater Toronto and continue providing gas to homes, businesses, schools and hospitals.

The pipeline is expected to start operating in 2016.

Russ Girling, President of TransCanada's and Chief Executive Officer said: "The approval of the application will allow TransCanada to move forward with this important facilities expansion, which will provide our customers with the flexibility to source growing supplies of Marcellus gas from the US Northeast.
