Tesla Energy is launching its first battery power utility-scale project in Ireland in a joint venture with Gaelectric.
They are developing battery projects which will enable them to use renewable energy.
They aim to move away from fossil fuels to a more sustainable energy future by using the Tesla batteries.
These can be used to enable homes, businesses and utilities to store sustainable and renewable energy which will manage power demand, provide backup power and increase grid resilience.
The initial 1MW demonstration project is targeted for deployment in 2016.
Gaelectric Head of Energy Storage, Keith McGrane, said: “Much of these developments are around incorporating greater amounts of renewable power while protecting the stability of our transmission systems and controlling costs.”
Gaelectric Energy Storage Ltd. was established in 2006 by Gaelectric Group to progress grid-level energy storage technologies.
