M&S joins 100% green energy initiative

Marks & Spencer (M&S) has reaffirmed its commitment to source 100% of its energy from renewables.

It has become the latest company to join the ‘RE100’ global initiative.

Other business that are part of the campaign include consumer goods company Unilever and India’s largest IT firm Infosys.

Mike Barry, Director of Sustainable Business at Marks & Spencer said: “Tackling climate change is critical for our business and for all businesses.

“Joining RE100 gives us an opportunity to share what we have learned and encourage other businesses to switch to renewable energy.”

The latest pledge builds on the company's Plan A commitment to improve energy efficiency in its UK and Ireland operations by 50% by 2020 and source half its gas from certified green bio-methane sources.
