California will achieve its energy goals by 2030 and will save $51 billion (£32bn) per year according to a report from a strategic consulting firm.

The “Impact Analysis: Governor Brown’s 2030 Energy Goals” report presented by Strategen states that the construction of a new energy infrastructure will create 1.2 million jobs and the decrease of pollution will cut healthcare costs and save lives.

Strategen Consulting Founder and Managing Partner Janice Lin said. "This analysis describes in clear, quantitative terms how Governor Brown's vision will translate to an enormous benefit in so many areas critical to public health, economic stability, energy security and quality of life.”

California is already working to produce 33% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.
