Germany invests €100m in Central America’s energy

Germany is to invest €100 million (£72m) in geothermal energy projects in Central America.

The €233 million (£167m) programme called ‘Central American Integration System’ (SICA) is a collaboration between Germany, Nicaragua, Mexico and the Caribbean.

The nations are also working towards improving the electricity networks and constructing biogas plants.

Last week, Germany provided €6 million (£4.3m) for water treatment plants in Nicaragua.
