New offshore renewable energy guide published

A new offshore renewable energy guide to ensure high standards for projects has been published.

It gives guidance on undertaking environmental impact assessments for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy projects.

The ‘PD 6900 Environmental impact assessment for offshore renewable energy projects guide' was launched by Business Standards Institution (BSI), with the help of Innovate UK.

It has input from organisations such as RenewableUK, the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) and Marine Scotland.

David Fatscher, Head of Market Development for Sustainability at BSI said: “The development and delivery of standards is important for driving the industrialisation of offshore renewable energy.

“Appropriate standards create a foundation for growth based upon recognised benchmarks of quality and promote UK competitiveness by reducing barriers to international trade."
