Customers urged to review their energy deals

Energy customers are being urged to review their gas and electricity tariffs “to make the savings they deserve”.

The call from energy comparison specialists Love Energy Savings follows the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) investigation which revealed the UK’s Big Six suppliers could be overcharging customers by up to £234 a year.

A staggering 95% of dual fuel householders could have made savings had they switched tariffs or suppliers.

Phil Foster, Managing Director of the Bolton-based company said: “We are obviously very happy indeed the CMA has seen fit to publish the first of its conclusions following nearly a year of investigation.

"We have been looking to urge the vast number of energy customers who have not yet switched to review their energy deals for years now. Hopefully this news will spur more businesses and homes to make the savings they deserve.”

The investigation also revealed some customers have never switched since the privatisation in the 1990s and are being encouraged to shop around to find the best deal on the market.
