Cardiff is oh so energy savvy

People from Cardiff are amongst the most energy savvy in Britain.

That’s according to new research by British Gas who said over half the people surveyed in the Welsh capital, try to save on energy at home.

A staggering 87%  said they would change their energy habits if it meant saving money on their bills and 37% said they would like energy saving to become a priority at home.

The good folk of Cardiff also seem clued in on smart metering with a third saying they knew what a smart meter was for and how it might help them save energy.  Perhaps that's because more than 15,000 smart meters have already been installed in the city.

The survey is part of the 'Energy Challenge' run by British Gas, offering practical energy-saving advice to consumers in Cardiff.

Lynda Campbell, Regional Director for British Gas in Wales said:  “It’s great to see that so many people from Cardiff are looking to make changes to save energy and get their bills down.

“The 60 Second Energy Challenge will help people living in Cardiff be more aware about how they use energy, it offers simple and practical tips to reduce their energy use."

The survey was commissioned by British Gas, who questioned 7,400 people across the UK of which 500 were in Cardiff.
