€300m boost for greener buildings

€300m boost for greener buildings

A lump sum of €300 million (£226m) is on loan to a Swedish industrial firm to boost the development of environmentally-friendly construction products.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending the money to Atlas Copco, a company that develops products and services like air treatment systems and construction and mining equipment.

European universities and institutes will help towards the research and development of the project, which will be carried out between 2015 and 2018.

Jonathan Taylor, EIB Vice-President said: “This will support innovation in a key area of the economy, reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and enhance the safety of workers.”
