Mind-blowing lessons in wind energy

A new college that will train thousands of young people for the wind industry has been announced.

The National College for Wind Energy is aimed at helping the UK close the skills and productivity gaps, enabling young people to gain professional qualifications up to postgraduate level.

It will be headquartered in the Humber Region, which will soon be home to a giant Siemens wind factory.

The initiative is part of a national network of specialised colleges, for which the government has pledged to invest £80 million in total.

Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “By arming people with the skills they need to be energy specialists we can provide career opportunities for thousands of young Britons, boost the competitiveness of British firms and help the UK economy remain strong for the future.”
