The fire-ravaged gas power plant Didcot B could be back up and running by Wednesday, a spokesperson for npower confirmed today.
More than 20 fire engines were called to the blaze at the Oxfordshire power station a week ago.
A spokesperson for the supplier told ELN: “We hope to get it online by Wednesday... Obviously this will be only partially as there is still serious damage to the cooling towers.”
The energy firm expects the power plant could make 380 megawatts (MW) worth of power available to the electricity grid.
This would be little more than a quarter (28%) of the plant's total capacity which at 1,360MW is equivalent to powering one million homes.
The amount of capacity ready could change, depending on how much damage investigators discover, suggested the spokesperson.
