New online tool calculates renewable heating benefits

New online tool calculates renewable heating benefits

A new online tool which shows how consumers can benefit by installing renewable heating systems - such as solar thermal panels and ground source heat pumps - has been launched.

DECC’s ‘Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) calculator allows people to check how much money they could be paid through the scheme, depending on the type of renewable heating technology they install.

The scheme is open to householders, social and private landlords and people who build their own homes – and is available both on and off the gas grid.

According to DECC, more than 4,400 householders have benefited from the RHI scheme since it was launched in April this year.

Amber Rudd, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Climate Change said: “Renewable technology is helping thousands of people keep their homes warm and reduce their energy bills at the same time, not to mention reducing their carbon footprint.”
