Fuel economy is the most crucial factor for motorists when looking for a car.
It came top in a list of 10 factors in the survey of 398 web users by car leasing site ContractHireandLeasing.com in March 2014.
Fuel economy was rated as very important by nearly half (47%) of respondents, a mix of business and personal car leasing customers.
A mere 1% of car hunters said fuel economy was “not at all important”.
This beat fuel type – i.e. diesel or petrol car - which at 35% of the vote came second place, as well as the VED rate which is determined by CO2 emission level.
