Energy Secretary Ed Davey reckons Tory bigwigs are trying to “box him in” with the two new ministers appointed in the reshuffle last week.
The Lib Dem politician was speaking at an event on Saturday run by the Lib Dem Social Liberal Forum group in East London.
In past reshuffles, the energy department has been relatively untouched.
But last Wednesday's re-jig saw Matthew Hancock become Business and Energy Minister while Amber Rudd will pick up from Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker next year.
Mr Davey said: "He put two new ministers in from George Osborne’s private fiefdom, Matt Hancock and Amber Rudd. They are really trying to shadow me and box me in, so far they have failed," reported Huffington Post.
Davey also predicted there could be another Coalition government next year – but this time a Lib Dem-Labour one.
He said: "If we were negotiating again and I hope we will be, but probably with the Labour Party this time... that would be my prediction, I think because we are used to coalition politics, we would negotiate even better.”
